Charybdis Pot II
Named after an Ancient Greek sea monster who may have based upon an actual whirlpool in the Strait of Messina, this white stone-ware pot has been hand-thrown and manipulated to capture the sea's dangerous, powerful beauty. White matte glaze with tiny splashes of blue at the folded lip, this pot carries a flap of raw black stone-ware on one side to suggest the sinking mast and sail of a lost ship. Pot is hand thrown and manipulated to achieve delicate folds in the clay. Astronaut remains with artist's son.
