Film Synopsis
Pulling from the director’s family history and narrated by this family’s matriarch, “Finn” sings the ballad of Finn Stai, a great, great-uncle of the director who left Wisconsin to travel the country and, regretfully, the world. Threading a montage of clips shot on location in Genoa, Italy, the South of France, Istanbul, Turkey and Iowa County, Wisconsin, director Kerstin Schaars explores how a story changes as it ages, how much is lost, and what remains. A short film about an average life, “Finn” is an entirely true, tall-tale told twice.
